here’s how it works
These are the steps to follow when commissioning your own special portrait.
First of all, the most significant part is your photograph. A good photo reference is highly important to ensure an excellent quality portrait.
Size & Medium
Choose your medium — You can choose whether you would like a pencil drawing, a colored pencil drawing, or a portrait painting. For examples of my work within those areas, please refer to the galleries of pets and people.
Choose your size — Smaller sizes are ideal for portraits with a single subject, while medium and large sizes are necessary for portraits with multiple subjects.
Your choice may depend on the number of subjects in your portrait and your budget.
My prices depend on the size of the portrait, the number of subjects within your portrait, and whether you would like a head or full body portrait. Each portrait takes many hours to complete, so multiple subjects, additional details, and complex backgrounds will incur additional fees. (Don’t worry, you will never receive any surprise charges, we will always talk first!) I devote a lot of time to ensure that your portrait is exceedingly special and represents your loved one in the most remarkable way.
Once you have an idea in mind, feel free to send me an e-mail with your photos or complete the contact inquiry form here. I will review your photos and we can discuss all of the details. For more complex artwork, I will create a digital mock-up of a plan for the portrait to give you an idea of how the final portrait will look. (Any changes you would like can be made during this stage.) I will kindly take your questions, suggestions, and concerns and I will offer my advice to ensure the best possible outcome for your portrait.
Once all the details of your custom portrait are arranged, I will send you an invoice for 50% of the total balance, which is due initially before I begin the work on your portrait. The remaining balance is due upon completion and satisfaction of your portrait.
Payments can be made through PayPal or by mail.
Throughout the journey, I will send a few “work in progress” photos of your portrait so you can see the progress throughout its stages of completion. Please feel free to ask questions or raise concerns throughout this step of the process.
Once your portrait is completed, I will send you a photograph of the portrait for your approval. Only minor adjustments can be made during the final stage. Upon satisfaction of the completed portrait, I will send you an invoice for the final payment. Once payment is received, your portrait will then be securely wrapped, packaged, and shipped to you.
and lately, delivery of your new special piece of art!
My goal is to provide the client with a piece of art that allows the love or appreciation for the subject to shine through in a beautiful and timeless portrait.
