Frequently Asked Questions

PROCESS + Drawing Materials

  • I am dedicated to creating the highest quality portraits for my clients. The time required to complete a portrait can vary depending on its size and complexity, but I am confident in my ability to deliver a finished piece that exceeds your expectations. Some of my larger portraits have taken up to 140 hours to complete, while others have required as little as 15 hours. I take great care to ensure that each portrait is completed to the highest standard.

When booking, I will provide you with an estimated completion date, but if you have a specific deadline in mind, please do not hesitate to contact me to discuss availability. Once your portrait is completed, I will ship it to you within 3-5 days of your approval, at which point no further changes can be made. I am committed to delivering a seamless and enjoyable experience for my clients, and I will work with you to ensure that your portrait is completed in a timely and satisfactory manner.

  • Occasionally, I will share major updates of my artwork with my clients and on my social media platforms. Let me know (in advance) if your commission is a surprise so that I know not to share any progress photos publicly. I like to guarantee that all surprises will remain a secret prior to being gifted. Additionally, let me know if you’d prefer for me to share updates on social media while I am working. I love getting to share updates with followers of my artwork! 🙂

Photo REFERENCEs

  • Yes, I can usually remove small objects or obstructions from your image to create an improved and refined piece of art.

Additionally, I can also include details that may be missing from your photographs, such as name tags or collars. If you have a special request, please provide some additional reference photos with the idea that you have in mind.

  • Yes, absolutely! I will occasionally have requests to combine multiple photographs within an artwork. My goal is to achieve a level of realism by creatively arranging your photos together.

In the example below, I was asked to include the children’s grandfather in the portrait as he had passed away. There were no images I could reference of the family together, so I combined three separate photographs. It is an honor to create a memorial portrait that represents the family in such a special way.

  • I do ask that clients provide the best reference photos available, however, I know this is not always an option. (Especially if your adored pet has passed away and you only have old photos). Rest assured, I can usually work with a small, low-quality image and still create an exceptional, high-quality piece of art.

  • I need a clear photograph to use as a reference for my artwork. While one photograph is sufficient, using multiple photographs can be helpful in capturing the accurate color, detail, and personality of the subject. This helps me to create a more accurate representation of your loved ones within my artwork.

Payment

  • As a professional artist, I am committed to providing my clients with the highest level of quality and service. To ensure that I can devote the necessary time and attention to creating a one-of-a-kind portrait for you, I require a booking fee of 50% of the total payment upfront to secure your spot on my waiting list. This booking fee is fully refundable if you choose to cancel within 7 days of booking. After this time, the payment is non-refundable as it covers my time creating mockups, communicating with you, and handling administrative tasks.

Please note that once I begin working on your portrait, all payments become non-refundable.

I am dedicated to your satisfaction and want you to love your portrait. I do allow some minor changes or alterations once your commission reaches its final stages. This ensures that you are completely satisfied with the final product and that your portrait meets all of your expectations.

Your portrait will be crafted with the utmost care and attention to detail, resulting in a truly one-of-a-kind piece that you will cherish for a lifetime. I am confident that you will be absolutely delighted with the final result.

  • I require 50% of the total payment initially to secure your space on my waiting list and ensure that I can devote the necessary time and attention to creating a one-of-a-kind portrait for you.

Your final payment is due upon the completion of your portrait, for which I will send you an invoice for the remaining 50% of the balance plus the cost of shipping. Under no circumstances will any artwork be posted or shipped until the final payment has been received in full. Thank you for your understanding and trust in my work.

ARTWORK Care

  • To ensure your artwork stays in tip-top shape, it is essential to follow these simple guidelines:

    • First things first, keep it out of direct sunlight - those heat and UV rays can really do a number on paper, causing it to become brittle and eventually crumble.

    • When it comes to framing, opt for non-glare glass with UV protection to shield your artwork from the sun's harmful rays and make it easier to see.

    • To prevent moisture damage, make sure the matting and backing of your frame are made of acid-free materials like acid-free paper and tape.

Following these simple guidelines will help protect your artwork and keep it looking fabulous for years to come.

  • As an artist, I am dedicated to creating the highest quality artwork for my clients.
